We didn't start the TV!

If you hear the piano soundtrack of a silent film while reading the first line, then my work here is done. The soundtrack to line two would be "We didn't start the Fire", with TVs from different eras showing scenes and faces that will be in the history books two centuries from now...those sentences that just define an era.

"I have a dream"
"Ich bin ein Berliner!"
"It's one small step for a man..."
"Well, just watch me"
"Therefore, I shall resign the presidency..."

With Eltsin on his tank or dancing the polka, Elvis, the Beatles and the Jackson 5 on Ed Sullivan...

For 99% of the time humans had  cultures and political systems, the common people had no idea what their pharaohs, emperors and kings looked like, except for very idealized portraits on tombs, coins or portraits. In barely a century of existence, movies and filmed newscasts have completely redefined what it means to lead a country or a group of people. Leaders are first and foremost media personalities...up tu such a point that any media clown, not to name names (DOOONAAALLLD TRUUUMP!!!) can seem like a good leader to the masses, who don't really know the difference anymore.
